Termite Inspection
Pest Control & Termite Inspections
If you’re looking for an affordable pest and termite inspection service, we can help. The team at Eco Pest Control Sydney provide trained inspectors who strictly follow the Australian Standards AS 3660.2-2000 for all inspections completed.
Termite Inspections
Termites can lead to various types of structural damage, including swollen floors and buckling wood. Termites can cause more than $1.5 billion worth of property damage every year in Australia, damage that is often not covered by insurance. The Building Code of Australia set a minimum standard for termite inspections, namely the Australian Standards AS 3660.2-2000. Existing buildings in Australia must feature certain “Termite Management” standards, which is why termite inspections are essential.
Did you know termites cause millions of dollars worth of damage in Australia every year? Termites will attack 1 in 4 homes throughout their lifetime in South East Queensland. In order to make sure that your home is not a statistic, you need regular checks by a trained and experienced pest control company. Moreover most home insurance companies will not cover you for termite damage. So prevention is much better than the cure. Which can cost thousands of dollars in repair bills. We provide affordable pest control and termite treatment for all property types.
Who Are Termite Inspections For?
Termite inspections are essential for every homeowner and business owner, especially those living in humid areas. New homeowners need termite inspections before buying a house, as mortgage lenders will require the home to be free of termites or other structure-damaging pests.
Current Sydney homeowners should have a termite inspection at least once a year, but homes that are at risk (old homes or homes in humid areas) may benefit from having a termite inspection every 6 months. At Eco Pest Control Sydney, we have fully licensed pest control technicians that can offer you termite inspections.

Each home is different, so our Eco Pest Control Sydney technicians will check every area of your home or establishment that might be a good hiding spot for termites. Where necessary, we may recommend drilling small holes in certain areas in order to confirm a potential termite activity.
Tools We Use During Termite Inspections
During our termite inspections, we use various tools in order to determine a potential pest control problem:
- Moisture meters: Can detect areas with a high humidity level, something that termites often are attracted to.
- Thermal imaging: May detect a heat pattern in walls or other areas, which can suggest the presence of termites.
- Termite Tapper: Assists in locating a termite colony by using a technique referred to as “tapping.”
- Torch: A source of light that will be used to check dark places for deformities and termite presence.
- Termatrac: Detection radar that emits a microwave signal, one that has been accurately calibrated in order to detect the presence of termites.
While these are the standard tools used to detect termite activity, our pest control technicians will make use of their own knowledge to find out whether you are dealing with a pest infestation or not.
During a termite inspection, various tools may be used in different combinations. For instance, if the moisture meter detects a high humidity level, a thermal imaging unit and Termatrac may also be used. While moisture meters show the potential for termites, thermal imaging or Termatrac may confirm the infestation.
What Happens If Termites Are Found?
In case termites are found on the premises, further steps will be taken for pest control. A quote will be given for the treatment of live termites, the final price depending on the size of the colony.
Our Eco Pest Control Sydney team will provide a series of recommendations to take action. The first step will be removing the live colony by using pesticides. Termite barriers and baiting systems will also be installed around the house, to prevent a new colony from entering the house.
Termite Treatment Services
If termites are found on your property, the pest control technicians at Eco Pest Control Sydney can offer a series of services:
Treatment for Live Termites
When dealing with an existent termite infestation, the live termites must be removed first. To eliminate the colony from your property, Eco Pest Control Sydney uses Termidor, a pesticide that is highly efficient in killing termites.
We will apply Termidor in the problem areas around the house, where termites are most likely to live. The pesticide will poison the colony, transferring from termite to termite until the entire colony has been decimated.
Termite Barriers
Termite barriers come in two types. The first type is a physical barrier that is installed around the perimeter of the home. Very often, physical barriers are installed during the home construction, using concrete slabs to keep the termites from entering. Physical barriers use no chemicals, which means that their pest control efficiency may be reduced.
The second type of termite barrier is the chemical barrier, which involves applying a chemical treatment to the soil. We use Termidor for chemical barriers as well, as it prevents the termites from getting inside your home, killing them almost immediately.
Chemical barriers must be reapplied every few months, depending on the potential for a pest control problem, but they offer good termite protection when you do not want to make structural home modifications. At Eco Pest Control Sydney, we may help you with the installation of chemical barriers around your home.
Termite Baiting Systems
Termite baiting systems will deploy baits at a distance from your home, attracting termites to the spot before they manage to reach your home. They may be installed aboveground or belowground.
The baits contain cellulose that attracts termites, along with a slow-acting pesticide. The pest will take the bait and feed the poison to the rest of the colony, killing every termite that comes into contact with it. At Eco Pest Control Sydney, we can install termite baiting systems around your home to prevent a potential termite infestation.
