Our clients often come to us with a series of questions. Here are the most common questions, along with their answers:

  1. What Is Pest Control?

Protecting your home from pests requires proper management and regulation. Whether a proactive approach or in response to an infestation, pest control measures can keep bothersome animals, rodents, and insects away for good.

  1. How Often Should I Do Pest Control?

The frequency of pest control will depend on where your home is located, along with the type of pest you are dealing with. Termite pest control is often done annually, whereas cockroach control is done twice per year. If the humidity levels are high or the pests have favorable conditions, pest control must be performed more frequently.

  1. What Is the Average Cost of Pest Control?

Pest control can cost you anything from $100 to $400, on average. This will depend on the type of pest you are dealing with, along with the size of your property. The bigger the house, the more termiticide needs to be used, which will increase the price.

  1. Is There Any Preparation I Should Do Beforehand?

Each home is different, so large-scale preparation may not always be necessary. The type of treatment will determine the action. For live spraying, it is ideal to clean your home of clutter and move your furniture away from the wall. Refilling termite systems or installing a termite barrier may not require any preparation on your side.

  1. Can I Remain on the Property During the Pest Control Efforts?

In most circumstances, yes, you may remain on the property during pest control treatment. The exception is if you are pregnant or if you have a baby. In this case, we may ask you to vacate the property until the termiticide dries and the room has been ventilated. This may last around 2-4 hours.

  1. Do I Have to Take My Pets Out During Treatment?

In most cases, you will not have to take your pet out of the house when doing pest control. However, we may recommend that you keep the pet inside or in a different room until the treatment dries.

  1. What Treatment Is Typically used Against Termites?

A series of treatments may be used when treating against termites, of both chemical and non-chemical nature. Treatments such as Termidor have proven to be most effective against termites, killing the pests rather than just repelling them.

  1. Why Should I Get a Pest Inspection?

If you are looking to buy a new house, it is ideal to get a pest inspection first. Most mortgage lenders ask for such an inspection before lending you the money. If you already bought the house, you should get a pest inspection every year, even if you have not had a problem with pests before. This will identify potential problems.

  1. How Long Does It Take Until I See Results?

You should start seeing the first results within 48 hours. The fill timeframe will depend on the size of the infestation. A bigger termite colony, for instance, may take longer to die off, as the termiticide will transfer to every termite.
