Termite Reticulation Systems

Install and Refilling

Termite Reticulation Systems Sydney

Most termite species reach the perimeter of your home or building from the underground. This means that in order to protect the ground, you will have to protect the soil as well. Aside from standard termite barriers, a termite reticulation system will help offer constant protection to your home. At Eco Pest Control Sydney, we can help with the installation of a termite reticulation system.

What Is a Termite Reticulation System?

Termite reticulation systems are underground piping series that you bury around and under your house. The purpose of such a system is to offer ongoing protection against termite invasions, providing a constant flow of termiticide.

The pipes used in a termite reticulation system are strong, yet flexible, so that they may be efficiently positioned. These pipes have holes in them, spread evenly at intervals of around 200 mm. This makes it easier to dispatch termiticide constantly, offering protection to your home in a way that is not disruptive to your landscape.

How Do You Install a Termite Reticulation System?

In most cases, termite reticulation systems are installed in the pre-construction stage, but they may also be added during a renovation process. Many homeowners who add an extension to their home will also include a termite reticulation system underneath.

Depending on the status of your home, termite reticulation systems may also be installed directly around the house, acting similarly to a termite barrier. When we install a termite reticulation system, we will build a trench around the house. We will chemically treat the slabs and the soil beforehand. We use Termidor to deal with termite infestations, due to its efficiency in killing the termites rather than just repelling them.

We install the hose in the ground and bury it, leaving the fill point and end stop uncovered. Each termite reticulation system can run hoses of maximum 10 meters, so a bigger home may need multiple hoses. When the termiticide is passed through the hoses, it will enter the soil through the holes in the pipe, treating it against termites without disrupting the landscape or doing any intensive labour.

How Do You Refill a Termite Reticulation System?

To refill a termite reticulation system, an accredited pest controller will pump the termiticide through the fill corner, using pressure to drive it through the hose until it reaches the end stop. At that point, the termiticide will enter the ground through the holes. The process of refilling does not require any extra effort, as the termite reticulation system will have already been installed.

Some may refill their termite reticulation system with a repellent, non-toxic pesticide. However, to prevent a full infestation from occurring, most pest control technicians recommend the use of termiticide such as Termidor. Rather than just keeping the termites away, Termidor will kill them instead.

A new termite reticulation system may be easy to refill, but it is recommended to have a professional do the job instead. By trying to do it yourself, you may end up nulling your warranty. At Eco Pest Control Sydney, we can easily help you through the process of refilling your termite reticulation system.
